Modern Cinema and Games Room with Scenic Countryside Views
The client aimed to transform a designated room into a modern cinema and games room that would serve as a cozy entertainment hub for the entire family. The space needed to balance the requirements of a high-quality home theater with the room's potential to showcase breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside through large rear doors and full-length glass windows.
The goal was to create an immersive cinema experience while maintaining the room's versatility. The client wanted a solution that allowed for optimal light control during movie sessions but also enabled the room to transform into an open, light-filled space where the family could enjoy the countryside views when the cinema setup was not in use.
PRODUCTS
- Epson EH-TW9400W Wireless Projector, concealed within a Pure Theatre CR50 Projector Lift. This wireless projector offers exceptional image quality while the projector lift ensures it remains hidden in the ceiling when not in use.
- Pure Theatre CR200 Projector Screen providing a 68-inch viewable screen. This ceiling-recessed screen was strategically installed in front of the large doors at the rear of the room. Its blackout capabilities were critical for controlling light during movie sessions, making it possible to project a clear image even in a room with significant natural light.
- 6 x DALI PHANTOM E-60 In-Ceiling Speakers were installed to provide surround sound, offering an immersive audio experience while maintaining the room's sleek, unobtrusive design.
- 2 x DALI PHANTOM M-250 In-Wall Speakers were integrated into the walls, adding depth and clarity to the audio setup.
- REL T5i Subwoofer was included to deliver powerful, rich bass, enhancing the overall audio experience.
- The entire system was powered by a Denon AVC-X4700H 9.2 Channel 8K AV Receiver, ensuring top-tier audio performance with the capability to handle the latest audio and video formats.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
The primary challenge in this project was managing the large amount of natural light that could enter the room through the rear doors and full-length windows. The use of the Pure Theatre CR200 Blackout Screen was a key solution, as it allowed the screen to be placed directly in front of the doors without sacrificing image quality.
To further address the light control issue, motorized blinds were installed on the windows and doors. These blinds could be lowered during movie sessions to create a darkened environment, essential for an optimal viewing experience.
The decision to use a projector lift and a ceiling recessed screen provided the flexibility the client desired. When not in use, both the projector and the screen can be completely concealed, allowing the family to enjoy the uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.
OUTCOME
The completed cinema and games room met all of the client's requirements, delivering a space that is both a state-of-the-art home theater and a bright, airy room with stunning countryside views. The seamless integration of technology into the room's design allows the family to switch between entertainment and relaxation modes effortlessly. When it's time to watch a movie, the room transforms into a fully immersive cinema, and when the screen and projector are hidden away, the space opens up to reveal the beautiful landscape outside.
This project successfully combined modern technology with thoughtful design, creating a multifunctional space that the family can enjoy for years to come.
