Look a little closer, however, and there's something rather special hidden within the design. At the touch of a button, a projector and large-format screen descend from the ceiling, transforming the room into an immersive home cinema.
The homeowners wanted to enjoy the excitement of a big-screen viewing experience without having a television or bulky equipment permanently on display. By integrating the technology into a carefully planned ceiling design, Pure Theatre helped create a flexible living space that combines everyday comfort with cinematic entertainment.
At the heart of the installation is a 113-inch Pure Theatre ceiling-recessed projector screen, paired with an Epson EH-TW9400 projector and a discreetly integrated surround sound system.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
Creating a cinema without changing the character of the room
One of the biggest challenges when planning a home cinema in a living room is balancing the desire for a large screen with the need to maintain a comfortable, attractive space for everyday use. A conventional television would remain a permanent focal point, while a fixed projection screen would occupy valuable wall space. The homeowners wanted greater flexibility, allowing them to enjoy films and television on a large screen without making entertainment the defining feature of the room. Concealing the projector and speakers

A dropped ceiling around the perimeter of the room created the opportunity to house the projector lift and four Monitor Audio C280-IDC in-ceiling speakers. The projector can be lowered when required and concealed again afterwards, while the speakers remain discreetly integrated into the ceiling. Three additional in-wall speakers complete the front soundstage, with a subwoofer providing the low-frequency effects that bring film soundtracks to life. By planning the equipment as part of the room's design, the system delivers both visual simplicity and an immersive listening experience.
Making a living room work harder
Rather than dedicating an entire room to cinema, this installation demonstrates how an existing living space can serve several purposes without compromise. During the day, the room remains a welcoming place to relax and spend time with family. When it's time to watch a film, the screen and projector descend into position and the surround sound system brings the experience to life.
