DEDICATED HOME CINEMA

Winsor, Berkshire

After homeowners, Ben and Hannah acquired this Windsor property they set their site on transforming it into their dream home. They have achieved spectacular results ending with a home which is every bit as practical as it is beautiful.

At the heart of the property, the couple has created an impressive home cinema room. Project managed by Krantz Design, the room exudes class with its stunning deep blue walls and custom-built media wall. Whilst Krantz Design has specialised in luxury bespoke kitchens for many years they have recently been called upon to extend their services beyond the kitchen. Homeowners are realising the value of bespoke cabinetry which makes use of every nook and cranny. The skilled carpenters on this project took regular media wall design to the next level.

“Pure Theatre home cinema products are really good, I would definitely recommend them to others”

Maria-Elianna Constantinou, Co-Owner/ Design Manager at Krantz Designs

In contrast to the light and airy feel throughout the rest of the property, this cinema room exudes comfort. The dark hues create a vibe that almost exaggerates cosiness; you just want to sink yourself into the sofa and never leave. Panelling on the back wall, painted in a gorgeous deep blue, frames the vibrant artwork and really makes the pieces pop.

The team at Krantz Design worked closely with home cinema experts Pure Theatre to determine the best products to create a truly immersive experience whilst also achieving beautiful aesthetics. With years of experience in concealed home cinema options, Pure Theatre were able to provide manufacturing guidance as well as advice on projector and screen positioning which allowed the interior designers to ensure the most comfortable viewing angles.

Projection comes from the impressive Sony VPL-VW590ES Home Cinema Projector providing stunning detail and rich, faithful colour that makes you feel as though you’re right in the middle of the action. To ensure the projector did not take away from the luxurious feel of the room a Pure Theatre projector lift was installed. This allows the projector to recess into the ceiling when not in use, and reappear at the touch of a button. Powder coated in black and then painted over in the same colour as the walls it is almost invisible when retracted.

"A cinema room doesn’t necessarily match the traditional feel of the rest of our home, but Maria has made it feel cohesive by incorporating traditional features and design. The room looks fantastic and also functions perfectly. Maria worked closely with Pure Theatre to ensure that the traditional design didn’t compromise the viewing experience. She encouraged us to be bold with our design choices, particularly the colours and the result is brilliant"

The homeowner's dream of a big screen is fulfilled thanks to a 100" Fixed Frame Projector Screen cleverly recessed into a custom-built media wall creating a real focal point. Symmetrical alcove shelving on either side of the screen draws your eye to this central point. The superbly designed cabinetry from Krantz Design houses three In wall DALI Phantom S-180 Speakers and the AV equipment, purchased from Pure Theatre, so everything is hidden away. Lighting has been built into the shelving and cupboards to ensure everything is visible even when the rooms main lighting is dimmed for the full cinema experience.

Getting the sound right in a home cinema room is pivotal to recreating that theatre experience at home. This room benefits from the aforementioned in-wall speakers teamed with 2 subwoofers and four In-ceiling speakers fitted into the coffered ceiling creating a Dolby Atmos enabled 5.2.2 surround system with phenomenal sound output.
