A Stunning Media Room in a Bespoke Oak-Framed Home

This client was in the process of building a beautiful oak-framed home and envisioned a dedicated media room where the family could gather to enjoy movies and sports. The goal was to seamlessly integrate the home cinema system into the rustic charm of the property, ensuring that the room would remain elegant while offering a top-tier viewing experience. The solution needed to respect the aesthetics of the property, concealing the equipment when not in use, and delivering an immersive viewing experience when activated.

The integration of modern cinema technology into a home with oak beams and panelling required a balance of aesthetics and functionality. Carpenters on-site constructed a custom oak box that was fitted onto the beams in front of the bay window. The box-out concealed the 113-inch screen when retracted, allowing the family to appreciate the picturesque views outside. The projector was mounted on a bespoke oak shelf again produced by the carpenters, blending beautifully with the room’s natural materials.

One of the other challenges on this project was that due to the nature of the build (A wooden frame house with plaster board walls) there was only a small space in the wall for speakers. Monitor Audio ultra-slim speakers were installed in the front wall and ceiling to deliver crisp and immersive sound whilst fitting into the tight space. The Pure Theatre technical team worked directly with the electricians on-site to ensure the wiring and installation of the system were seamless.

The finished media room is a perfect blend of advanced home cinema technology and the natural beauty of the oak-framed home. The retractable projector screen and bespoke fittings preserve the elegance of the space, while the high-quality audio and visual system provide a phenomenal viewing experience. This project highlights how bespoke craftsmanship and advanced home cinema technology can work together to create a stunning, functional media space.
