About the Dali K-90 Speaker

Dali’s K-80 uses their signature Dali wood fibre cones, making them the first in-ceiling speaker offering to do so. Matching with Dali’s loudspeakers, they are the perfect choice for an in-ceiling speaker in a home cinema set-up. Dali’s K Series are in-ceiling speakers that were developed from the well-known Phantom E Series. They ultimately offer better sound and even more flexibility.

Dali Phantom's New In-Ceiling Speaker K-Series features the K-80. With an impressive bass, adjustable sound, a new custom back-can and grille design, this series is unmissable. The K Series features an improved magnet motor system for the woofer that produces better low-end reproduction, ensuring even larger rooms can be filled with Dali’s phenomenal sound. Featuring angled drivers and adjustable tweeters, listeners can fine-tune the sound to suit their listening position. Flexibility is key with this series, allowing the positioning of the speakers in the ceiling to be more complex.

WOOFER

Flexibility was important when designing the PHANTOM K-80, and the ability to use the speaker in areas not fit for traditional DALI speakers was a large part of this. To ensure the best balance between durability and great audio reproduction polypropylene was chosen for the cone material.

The woofer is tilted and angled for improved directionality and sound staging. The cone, surround and magnet motor system is designed according to the DALI low-loss principles. This makes the PHANTOM K-80 an easy speaker to drive, and even smaller amplifiers will be able to deliver a high-quality audio experience with the PHANTOM K-80.

TWEETER

The 28mm soft dome tweeter module in the PHANTOM K-80 is placed over the woofer in a composite housing mounted on an aeroplane-wing profile wishbone bracket. The dome tweeter can be physically tilted for optimum sound at the listening position. By mounting the tweeter over the woofer the total footprint of the speaker is kept at a minimum.

The aerodynamic design of the wing and the slightly centre placement of the tweeter help eliminate the “coaxial colouration” normally associated with coaxial drivers. The positioning also helps the mid-range and low frequencies blend gracefully with high frequencies for a precise and natural overall performance even at high sound pressures

DESIGN

The PHANTOM K-80 introduces improvements to the basic design of the front baffle by adding extra thickness to the outer edges for a tighter and more secure fit against the mounting area. This also helps the overall strength and rigidity of the speaker.

The dogleg mounting system makes the installation process an easy one-step action. Simply insert the PHANTOM K-80 in the prepared mounting area, and from the front of the speaker tighten the dedicated screws to swing out the dogleg brackets and tighten them against the back of the mounting surface. If the mounting surface is extra thick reversing the dogleg makes it possible to expand the mounting grip to 70mm.

The PHANTOM K-80 front grilles have been updated to meet the style demands of the install customer. The new sleek design helps the speaker integrate perfectly into the surroundings.
