Description

Features of the Cinergy Sub15

The Monitor Audio Cinergy Sub15 is a high-performance 15-inch subwoofer designed specifically for serious home cinema. Built around a 15-inch Ultra High Excursion C-CAM driver, it delivers the deep, controlled and powerful low-frequency performance needed to bring movie soundtracks to life.

Designed to complement the Cinergy 300, the Sub15 can be installed in-wall, stacked with other units or used as a freestanding subwoofer. Its cabinet is sized to match the Cinergy 300, allowing the two to work together as part of a cohesive cinema system.

The Sub15 is particularly impressive when multiple units are used. Better yet, you can combine it with other Cinergy Sub15 and Cinergy 300 units to create a hidden ‘sound wall’, delivering the kind of audio rarely experienced in the home.

In order to achieve the full THX-certified experience, Cinergy Sub15 needs to be paired with Monitor Audio’s IA750-2 or IA750-4 installation amplifier. As such, the Cinergy Sub15 is only sold along with the IA750-2 or IA750-4, ensuring the subwoofer and amplification are correctly matched for the intended performance.

  • THX Certified Ultra when used as part of the specified system
  • Powerful 15-inch Ultra High Excursion C-CAM driver

  • Bracing and securing brackets allow installation within a hidden sound wall
  • Sealed cabinet design for controlled low-frequency performance
  • 17Hz low-frequency extension when used with the IA750-2 or IA750-4
  • Supplied with the appropriate Monitor Audio IA750-2 or IA750-4 amplification

Cinergy Sub15 – Our Expert View

We've had the opportunity to experience the Cinergy Sub15 in our dedicated home cinema demonstration room, and the performance genuinely took us by surprise. This isn't simply a subwoofer that adds a little more bass to a cinema system; when correctly integrated, it transforms the scale and physical impact of what you're watching.

What makes our demonstration particularly interesting is that the Sub15 doesn't have to dominate the room visually to make an enormous difference. Our Cinergy demonstration system uses a clever lift-up projector screen, allowing the screen to move out of the way and reveal the cinema system behind it. It gives you the opportunity to see exactly what is creating the sound while also demonstrating how the speakers and subwoofers can be positioned correctly behind the screen for the best possible movie experience.

Hearing the system is one thing, but seeing the Cinergy 300 and Sub15 working together makes the concept of a hidden sound wall much easier to appreciate. The combination delivers a level of scale, impact and low-frequency authority that is difficult to replicate with conventional home cinema speakers.

The Cinergy Sub15 is available to experience in our dedicated demonstration room in Telford.

Building a Home Cinema Around the Cinergy Sub15

The Sub15 is designed as part of a complete Cinergy home cinema system rather than as a standalone subwoofer. Its performance is best understood when considered alongside the Cinergy 300, appropriate amplification and the wider speaker configuration.

Multiple Sub15 units can be combined with multiple Cinergy 300 speakers to create a hidden sound wall behind an acoustically transparent screen. This approach allows the front of the cinema to remain clean and uncluttered while placing the main speakers and low-frequency system in an acoustically effective position.

The number of Sub15 units required will depend on the size of the room, desired playback levels and overall system design. Amplification, speaker positioning, processing and room acoustics also need to be considered to ensure everything works together correctly.

Our home cinema specialists can design the complete Cinergy system around your room, from the speaker and subwoofer configuration through to the IA750 amplification, processing, screen and wider AV system. We can then take care of installation and calibration, removing the complexity from creating a high-performance home cinema.

Hear the Cinergy Sub15 for yourself in our Telford demonstration room and discover what a properly designed Cinergy system can deliver.
