Creating a Home Entertainment Hub in Wimbledon, London
The client, based in Wimbledon, London, was undergoing a renovation of their home, including a revamp of their living room. They envisioned a modern media wall with built-in cabinetry that would not only house a TV but also support a larger screen for an enhanced home entertainment experience. Their goal was to transform the living room into a true entertainment hub, combining the functionality of everyday TV viewing with the immersive experience of a home theater.
PRODUCTS
The project involved designing and installing a home theater system within the confines of a custom-built media wall. This included integrating an advanced audio-visual system while ensuring the aesthetic appeal of the room remained intact. The client required a setup that provided both excellent visual quality and superior sound performance.
- Pure Theatre CR240 Projector Screen: Instead of being recessed into the ceiling, the screen was integrated into a custom-built media wall. The cabinetry framework was designed to house the screen, allowing it to retract neatly when not in use.
- Pure Theatre CR50 Projector Lift housing the Epson EH-TW9400 Projector: The lift was installed within the ceiling, enabling the projector to be hidden from view when not in use.
- 2 x Monitor Audio IWS-10 In-Wall Subwoofers powered by a Monitor Audio IWA-250 Subwoofer Amplifier: These were installed discreetly within the walls, providing deep, rich bass that enhances the cinematic experience without taking up floor space.
- 2 x Monitor Audio C380-FX In-Ceiling Speakers and 2 x Monitor Audio C380-IDC In-Ceiling Speakers: These speakers were installed in the ceiling to create a surround sound environment, enveloping the room in high-quality audio.
- 2 x Monitor Audio SoundFrame 2 On-Wall Speakers: Positioned on either side of the screen.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
During the installation process, the client’s builders made some errors when fitting the screen into the custom-built cabinetry. These issues could have compromised the functionality and aesthetic integration of the screen. However, our Pure Theatre support team was quick to respond, conducting a site visit to assess and rectify the situation. Our expertise ensured that the screen was properly installed, meeting the client's expectations.

The finished living room successfully combined functionality with high-end home entertainment technology, meeting the client’s vision of a modern, multi-purpose space. The custom media wall provides the flexibility of everyday TV viewing as well as an immersive home theatre experience.
